“I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Our return flight was canceled with two hours to get our rental car back to the airport, and there was one ocean view room available here. It was an easy decision to take the room once we knew it would be reimbursed by our airline. I immediately used the gym to get a quick workout before a soak in the bathtub (finally got to use the bath bomb I’d brought with me!). We ate lunch, dinner, then breakfast at the restaurant. Every meal was simple and so delicious. We had piña coladas ordered to the hot tub after an hour+ at the seaside pool and swimming in the ocean beside it. I will never forget this place, which so elegantly welcomed us with a bottle of champagne, custard tarts, and fresh fruit to celebrate our bonus, last day of our honeymoon. We drank the champagne in their garden, which has some incredible, truly gigantic plants. There was no better way to spend that day, and I thank everyone involved for maintaining such a comfortable and lovely place to stay.”

“We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Albatroz Beach & Yacht Club. The location is simply unbeatable — perched on the edge of the ocean with breathtaking views and easy access to both nature and nearby attractions. What truly made the stay exceptional was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was warm, professional, and genuinely committed to making our stay as pleasant as possible. Their hospitality exceeded all expectations. The tennis court, set against the backdrop of the sea, is very nice. The pool area down by the ocean is spectacular. It’s peaceful, beautifully designed, and feels like your own private retreat. Very good restaurant as well. We were lucky enough to extend our stay by two extra nights, and so grateful we did. It gave us more time to soak in the peaceful atmosphere and enjoy everything the hotel has to offer. We will definitely be back. This place is a true gem.

We stayed here for the last night of our honeymoon in Madeira and wish we stayed longer! It has a good location where it is easy to get around the island from to see viewpoints and hikes. All the staff we encountered were incredible - warm, professional and kind. They gave us a bottle of champagne to enjoy because of our honeymoon which was very sweet. We had an early flight home as well and they kindly packed us breakfast bags to take with us. The beds were really comfortable and the views of the water were unforgettable. We enjoyed the pools as well which were stunning. We would definitely stay here again!

“Home away from home.Fantastic small hotel with incredibly hospitable staff. Everything you could ask for... Good food, 2 pools (one in the ocean), a tennis court, a little fitness area, massages, a sauna and beautiful and well kept surroundings. Even though you are right belowIf I had to nitpick:A hanger for the hand towels below the sink would be nice and the floor of tennis court could use a little repairing... thats about everything negative I can come up with.It was already our third time there and it felt like coming to our home away from home again. Thanks so much for the wonderful time and all the best wishes to Olena, Carolina, Adriana, Claudia, Francesco, Fabrizio and Diogo! We will definitely come again.”

“This was our second stay and it was just as wonderful as we remembered. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. The ocean views are absolutely stunning, and waking up to that is really special. The staff are warm, professional, and it’s such a nice touch to be recognized when you come back. Albatroz has definitely become one of those places we know we can return to for a peaceful escape. Already looking forward to the next visit.”

“The staff, especially Olena, went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. Although I hadn’t booked my tour in advance, she managed to arrange a car with a very knowledgeable driver for the entire day. Francisco from the restaurant was also incredibly helpful and kind. The massage was amazing,and last but not least,the manager was so welcoming and genuinely cared about making sure I had the best time possible. The property is situated 20 minutes from downtown, offering a serene and peaceful environment. While this may pose a challenge for guests without a car, taxis are readily available at all hours.”

“Words cannot describe this incredible place! The hotel is located on a cliff. It has its own natural pools, heated pools, children's pool, and jacuzzi! The staff is very polite, knowledgeable and pleasant! The food in the restaurant is fresh, varied, breakfasts are delicious, even fancy. The hotel is owned by a wealthy intelligent man, and this affects everything - service, cleanliness, attitude! Thank you and your team for the time we spent in your beautiful, picturesque city! “Small hotel with friendly, helpful, very kind staff. Excellent breakfast (omelettes and pancakes made to order, lots of fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice, very good coffee). Top-class restaurant with a variety of local and fresh fish dishes. Hotel room was spacious, clean with balcony and ocean view. Fresh fruit in the room and welcome champagne with pastel de nata. Excellent panoramic salt water pool and heated outdoor pool in the sunbathing area. We felt really welcome.”

“Our whole stay was very special. The hotel is quite small, making it very cosy and pleasant. The rooms are very large, exceptionally clean and beautifully furnished. Every room faces the sea. The grounds are very well maintained and beautifully decorated. The food, both breakfast and dinner, is very high quality, well prepared and very tasty. We highly recommend the traditional tomato and onion soup and the Bolo da Caco bread. Claudia and Tony rounded off the experience perfectly with their truly exceptional service. The proximity to the airport doesn't bother us at all, it's rather interesting to watch from time to time. We will definitely be back!”

“Fantastic small hotel complex to feel good and as a perfect starting point for exploring the island. The location is fantastic as a starting point for exploring the island (car recommended). The property impresses with its great green/plant areas, the various pools and the beautiful sea view. The breakfast was very good with a great selection. Dinner is a delight - rarely eaten so well! The staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful and you can switch off wonderfully and let yourself be pampered - especially after a long day exploring the island.”

The breakfast was excellent and with a chef preparing your eggs to your order. Theroom was very large and very comfy with a beautiful view over the ocean. Thebathroom very nice as well with top quality amenities. We loved the sea pool down atsea level - with easy access to the sea. The heated pool at hotel level was also great.We did also enjoy dinner with delicious food and high quality service.

I never write reviews but I'm making an exception for the Albatroz. We have justreturned from this wonderful hotel, by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in andwe've stayed in many in Europe, the US and Canada. The staff were all amazing, socourteous and friendly but I must single out one staff member for special praise.Claudia, the restaurant manager, was fantastic. She happily created cocktails from myhusband's own weird recipe, the Madeira Banana Sunrise I think we named it!! Shemade our stay at the Albatroz a truly delightful experience. If we come back to Madeira,we will definitely be staying at the Albatroz. Only downside, it's spoilt us for all otherhotels in the future.

The hotel exceeded our expectations! Everything was truly 5 stars: spacious, quietroom with a large window and balcony with a direct view of the ocean, cleanliness, anabundance of luxurious plants and thoughtful decorations of all rooms, a huge bed witha quality mattress and pillows for every taste, abundant breakfast with champagne andexquisite dinner (I highly recommend taking half board, it is profitable and convenient),responsive and friendly staff, ready to help in different languages, including Russian(Olena, thank you for your friendly attitude and useful information), well-maintainedgreen territory, three swimming pools, two of which are directly in the ocean and thethird is heated, I will just mention the bathrobe, slippers and a replenishable set ofhygiene products, as well as coffee and tea in the room, but I will separately note themeeting with champagne and a dish of fruit in the room, a bottle of Madeira and localsweets at check-out. Everything was so thoughtful and delicate that we felt welcomeand honoured to be guests in this paradisiacal place. Thank you very much to themanagement and all the hotel staff, thanks to your professional care we had awonderful holiday! We will come again!

Excellent choice for your stay in MadeiraOur First visit in this Hotel, and for sure not our last! Why? The hotel's kind helpful staffand breathtaking location and unique ocean swimming pool are responsible for all ofthis! Such a wonderful view that you can admire from the Hotel to the Atlantic Ocean!Excellent food and perfect serving no matter you having your meal outside like a teracelooking across the sea to the Desertas Islands. Dont be afraid cause the Hotel islocating so close to the Airport. No any disturbing noise comeing to the Hotel area!Even in November a treat swimming in the amazing sea pools and Atlantic ocean,cause water temperature is quite warm to enjoy. All around the Hotel is very clean andso amazingly gardened!They offer free Airport transfer which is very cool and confortable!If you visit Madeira dont miss their Hotel and there magnificiant Ocean Pool

Our second visit here, and hopefully not our last. Such a wonderful place. Friendlyhelpful staff, nothing is too much trouble. Excellent food and the bonus of breakfast satoutside looking across the sea to the Desertas Islands. Really not a problem to be soclose to the airport , interesting watching the few planes coming in. Even in Novembera treat swimming in the amazing sea pools.
My wife and I spent her birthday at the Albatroz Hotel and it was a really great decision.The staff are incredible, from the reception team when you first arrive, to Claudia andthe team in the restaurant, and the incredible food! The chef prepared a deliciousbirthday cake for my wife and it was one of the best cakes that we have ever tasted. Atbreakfast the next morning the chef made an omelette to order which was prepared toperfection. We can’t wait to return to the Albatroz! Thank you once again to the team atthe Albatroz for making my wife’s birthday one of the best ever.

We fell in love with this hotel, which we stayed at at the end of our stay. The proximityof the airport is not a problem. We didn't hear any planes. The staff are adorable andare, in my opinion, the big plus of this hotel. From reception to the restaurant and bar,everyone is very attentive. We even forgot a music box in our room, which wasimmediately returned to us by post. Spotlessly clean, fantastic sea view. The seawaterpool below is incredible. I recommend this establishment.

We spent 7 fabolous days at Albatroz Hotel. Our room was extra clean with a beautifulview to the ocean, the staff was super friendly and helpful and we had amazingbreakfasts and dinners, or how we learnt in portuguese it was deliciosa. The hotel hasa gym, a sauna and two pools, one of them directly leads to the ocean. Thank youAlbatroz for the amazing Madeiran holiday, hope to return here soon. Obrigada! 🙂

We have just spent 3 nights at this fabulous hotel. The views are spectacular. The rooms are very clean and well maintained, but what makes this hotel amazing is the wonderful polite and helpful staff who go the extra mile to make your stay special. The moment we arrived we were picked up at the airport by Carolina who was very helpful and also showed us to our room and spent time explaining everything about the room and the hotel. All the staff on the reception were very friendly. The dining room waiters were very professional and a credit to the hotel the food was very well prepared and some of the best we have ever tasted and delivered to the table with a smile by Francisco at breakfast and the wonderful vivacious Fabricio who made us smile and relaxed at dinner.

Unser 2. Aufenthalt in diesem fantastischen Hotel. Ich kann diese Einrichtung nicht genug loben. Das Personal sind ohne Ausnahme die nettesten und freundlichsten Menschen, die man sich wünschen könnte. Es war unser großes Vergnügen, einmal mehr mit Fernando Costa (Empfangsleiter) zu plaudern.
Dieser Gentleman ist ein "leuchtender" Botschafter nicht nur für das Albatroz, sondern auch für Madeira. Wir fühlten uns sehr speziell behandelt und die Einrichtungen und Unterkünfte sind vorbildlich. Ein Stück Paradies in einem "Juwel" von einer Insel.
Wir können es kaum erwarten, Madeira wieder zu besuchen und freuen uns auf einen weiteren Aufenthalt in diesem verzauberten Hotel. Vielen Dank Albatroz. Herzliche Grüße an das gesamte Albatroz-Team.

Wir hatten einen angenehmen Aufenthalt und möchten uns herzlich bedanken! Obrigado!
Ich weiß nicht genau warum, aber man fühlt sich einfach wohl auf dem gesamten Hotelgelände. Nicht alles ist perfekt (das Essen... ist Geschmackssache, hier und da sind kleine Schönheitsreparaturen nötig, zum Beispiel am Pool). Trotzdem würde ich jederzeit wieder dort buchen. Das Personal ist so lieb, aufmerksam und bemüht, dass man sie beim nächsten Madeiraurlaub gerne besuchen möchte, nur um "Hallo" zu sagen. Natürlich hört man ab und zu ein Flugzeug (aber auf Madeira landen und starten nicht so viele), aber es ist nicht störend laut. In Santa Cruz unten im Ort ist das schon eine ganz andere Geschichte! Und selbst dort gibt es Hotels.

Das Zimmer mit Meerblick ist sehr gemütlich und vor allem sehr ruhig trotz der Nähe zum Flughafen. Wir empfehlen diese Unterkunft, in der wir einen angenehmen Aufenthalt verbracht haben, der maßgeblich zu unserer Wertschätzung dieser wunderschönen Insel Madeira beigetragen hat.

Im Urlaub vom 05/04/14 bis zum 12/04/2014 hatten wir einen ausgezeichneten Aufenthalt. Das Personal ist sehr professionell, sowohl an der Rezeption als auch in der Küche, und die Kellner sind sehr hilfsbereit und äußerst freundlich. Das Zimmer mit Meerblick ist sehr komfortabel und vor allem trotz der Nähe zum Flughafen sehr ruhig. Wir empfehlen diese Unterkunft, in der wir einen angenehmen Aufenthalt verbracht haben, der maßgeblich zu unserer Wertschätzung dieser wunderschönen Insel Madeira beigetragen hat. Wir werden sicherlich wiederkommen....

Wenn Sie auf Madeira bleiben, müssen Sie in diesem Hotel bleiben. Dieses kleine Hotel bietet alles, was Sie sich wünschen könnten. Hervorragendes Essen, Liebe zum Detail, freundliches Personal und Nähe zum Flughafen. Wir waren besorgt, dass es aufgrund dieser Nähe Flugzeuglärm geben würde, aber da alle Zimmer zum Meer hin ausgerichtet sind und das Hotel weit unter dem Flughafen liegt, konnten die Geräusche nicht gehört werden. Die Überraschung für uns war, dass es so entspannend war. Die Räume waren erstaunlich, so dass man das Gefühl hatte, dass es sowohl ein Resort von höchster Qualität ist, aber dennoch wie zu Hause, wo überall Komfort vorhanden ist. Da Madeira nicht groß ist, ist es praktisch zu vielen Orten, die Sie besuchen möchten. Es ist weit weg von der überfüllten Gegend, wo die Kreuzfahrtschiffe anlegen. Das Hotel bietet einen kostenfreien Flughafenabhol- und Rücktransferservice, wenn Sie dies nur vor Ihrer Ankunft vereinbaren. Auf ihrer Website finden Sie Einzelheiten über ihre Dienstleistungen.

Zwei Dinge, die ich mir gewünscht habe: Ich wollte immer auf Madeira heiraten und ich wollte einen Veranstaltungsort direkt am Meer. Dieser private und einzigartige Ort hat beide meiner Bedürfnisse erfüllt. Im August 2011 wurde ich geheiratet und hatte eine magische und wundervolle Empfang; mit Feuerwerk kurz vor Mitternacht. Ich bin so dankbar für alles, was das Personal geleistet hat, da meine Gäste sehr lobend über das Essen und den Service waren und auch von der Landschaft begeistert waren. Der Manager war erstaunlich, da er sowohl echt als auch professionell war; er und sein Team bemühten sich, unseren Bedürfnissen gerecht zu werden. Wir bekamen ein kostenloses Zimmer im Rahmen des Hochzeitspakets und durften länger als die Check-out-Zeit bleiben, so dass wir die beiden Pools genießen konnten. Bleiben Sie im Albatroz, wenn Sie einen ruhigen und abgelegenen Ort suchen. Dieser Ort ist ideal für Paare. TIPP: Es wäre nützlich, ein Auto zu mieten, wenn Sie die Insel weiter erkunden möchten.

Was für eine großartige Entdeckung! Dieses Hotel befindet sich in einer schönen Lage, so praktisch für den Flughafen und ein idealer Ausgangspunkt, um die ganze Insel zu erkunden. Der erfahrene und gastfreundliche Manager sorgt dafür, dass hohe Standards eingehalten werden, während das Personal jederzeit hilfsbereit und höflich ist.Die großen, gut ausgestatteten Schlafzimmer mit Balkonen mit Blick auf das Meer, ein schönes Wohnzimmer und kostenloser Computerzugang im ersten Stock. Es gibt eine ausgezeichnete Speisekarte zu fairen Preisen für das Abendessen, während das Frühstück nach Wunsch zubereitet wird - der frische Obstteller wird als Zwischengericht sehr empfohlen.Insgesamt eine ideale Umgebung für einen wunderbaren Urlaub, sicherlich werden wir wiederkommen.

I have been fortunate to travel extensively as far as Fiji and the Caribbean amongst many other destinations. I have to say that this hotel and its staff is the most enjoyable, relaxing and idyllic facility I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The welcome is genuine and warm, the rooms are clean tidy and modern with Wi Fi access free of charge in every room.
The restaurant is located within a few meters of the accommodation and Philip and Victorino both offer excellent service and pleasurable conversation. The menu is more than adequate and my wife and I tried a number of other restaurants in and around the Island, but found ourselves returning to this facility on our doorstep. The food is fresh and is prepared in a reasonable time with excellent quality.
The views from the rooms are looking out over the ocean and are exquisite with panoramic pleasure. The director is a very welcoming gentleman who, when asked; nothing appears to be of any trouble to him. All of the staff speak excellent English as well as other languages. I will, without doubt return to this beautiful hotel again, and recommend anyone who is looking for a relaxing trouble free holiday to visit this gem of a place. Kim West.

“Hotel staff was exceptionally helpful. We had an early morning flight after our stay and we were not only provided with complimentary transport to the airport but also some packed lunch for our way home. The hotel itself is located just a quick walk from Santa Cruz city centre so if you don’t want to stay only on the property and don’t have a car you can easily get there by foot. We were a bit worried that the hotel will be loud due to the close proximity to both the highway and the airport but you can’t really hear anything.”

“This is a fantastic hotel and suited us perfectly for our stay. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. The facilities were excellent, with an outdoor heated Jacuzzi and heated pool, plus the beautiful salt water pool which we swam in, in mid March. The bedroom was really spacious with a sea view, huge bed and extremely quiet so much have good soundproofing.”

“beautiful property near the airport, the rooms in the new wing have a splendid view on the bay. well furnished (maybe I could have needed some shoe cleaning gear). the staff is excellent (where in the world are you taken after registration to your room? and the luggage already there...) very convenient breakfast, shuttle at any time to the airport. i could check in earlier and was offered the last day to use the room free until 5pm-this is however only possible if there are free rooms. good experience of portuguese hospitality.”

This hotel is outstanding. Small and intimate with exhilarating views over the Atlantic. All the staff are superb...friendly, helpful and extremely efficient. The hotel is very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The restaurant is excellent. Don't be put off by it's proximity to the airport, you don't hear a thing and the courtesy transfer only takes minutes, always a bonus! Can't wait to return.

“Wonderful relaxing hotel with excellent restaurant.This is our 3rd trip to Madeira and to this hotel. We only booked the week before - it is low season in January. We were welcomed as returning guests and it was so lovely.Suite is amazing - bedroom, lounge/diner, 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies, fruit, coffee machine, kettle with tea, L'Occitaine toiletries and fluffy towels and bathrobes/slippers.The whole place is personalised service, relaxed atmosphere, helpful, friendly.The food is delicious. We were on bed, breakfast and evening meal board. Good wine list too and if you ask, they can do good cocktails. Do try the Porto Tonic with dry white port. The menu is large so plenty of wonderful food for every day. Breakfasts have such a huge selection too and eggs cooked to order.We used the heated pool and the hot tub. Also the tennis court where they provide tennis rackets and balls. The sea pool was not in use yet but you can walk down to it and see the small black crabs on the rocks. We have been there when it is in use and it is lovely.The hotel is near the airport but do not worry - it is not noisy.The gardens are colourful with beautiful flowers and cacti. Even in January, there was lot of colours Plenty of seating for a quiet read or just sit and watch the sea and look out to the Desertas Islands.We walked to Santa Cruz twice. There was a festival going on which was fun to see. Lovely big town square, nice old streets and shops. Great cafes to sit and watch the world go by. Stony beach. Outdoor pool open in summer.We drove into Funchall and Machico as well as the mountains for Levada walk. Great time and highly recommended. We will return.”

“We were staying at Villa Albatroz for the second time. One of the children had a small accident and Manager of the hotel personally came to A&E to help us out. The best service you can get.In addition villa was very clean, pool cleaned regularly and they called to confirm what time we would like the free shuttle to the airport.Highly recommend Hotel Albatroz and villa”
